ATAHC Overview

Allergy Technologies initially developed ATAHC™ as a systemic approach to reducing bed bugs in affordable housing. The public-health-oriented Company saw an unmet need in these communities: reducing these pests, which thrived due to tight living conditions and challenging budget constraints. ATAHC management developed a protocol for a facility-wide screening and subsequent treatment of infested residential units, lowering the bed bug population. Installing long-acting preventive measures, property-wide ensured that the bed bug population stayed controlled. Instead of a one-off “whack-a-mole” to bed bug treatments, ATAHC relied upon systemic and frequently gathered and reported data to measure the program’s success. A centerpiece of this was educating staff and residents about the ATAHC program, developing trust with all parties, and treating residents with dignity, empathy, and respect. As ATAHC launched the program at a demonstration site in Philadelphia, it was found to reduce bed bug populations significantly, and the city expanded the program to added communities as the program expanded nationally.
